Health Trends in Missouri's Commercially-Insured Population

While there has been a return to pre-pandemic trends in some areas of health care, COVID-19 continues to alter the medical landscape. To assist providers, purchasers, and our community in understanding COVID’s impact and the potential for future change, Midwest Health Initiative (MHI) is pleased to share a series of COVID-19 chart books. Using MHI’s claims dataset, representing more than 2 million people in the region, these analyses examine care trends among Missouri’s commercially insured (aged 0-64 years) from the start of COVID-19 through January 2022.

Charted trends include:

  (1) COVID-19 Testing, Diagnosis, and Hospitalizations

  (2) COVID-19 Vaccinations by Missouri County

  (3) Urgent Care, Emergency Department, & Surgery Utilization

  (4) Care Delivered In-Office vs. Telehealth
  (5) Mental Health Diagnoses
  (6) Preventative Screenings

For questions regarding this analysis or to inquire about additional health care information in, please contact the MHI team at info@midwesthealthinitiative.org.
